indian demo'crazy'

i'm not much of a political analyst, especially not indian politics. india is one of the few countries in the world where the multi party system is pushed to its breaking point. every regional party has a base in their state. and that means there are parties that don't contest national elections that have a huge say in who becomes the countries rulers.

what happens because of this is the govt is almost always a coalition and coalitions are like promises, they are meant to be broken.

even by india's political entertainment standards, the last week or so has been the equivalent of bumper harvest for the news channels.

the horse trading has been so open its disgusting.

there's the speaker saying he won't resign and vote with his party. theres shibu soren with his 5 mp's getting promised the coal ministry, his son getting deputy chief minister of his state and 2 deputy cabinet ministers, all for 5 votes. there have been rumours of amounts as high as 50crores which is approximately $12 million offered for a single vote for the bill!

hm.. well at least its fodder for the news.. at least some part of our economy is benefitting.. :)

i actually started writing this post trying to make the whole situation clear cut for me... its pretty clear to me now.. but theres way too much to write and waste my time..

may the team with the best and most expensive horses win..
the race is day after tomorrow! dont miss it! live on every indian news channel!
